I got recommended Tom by one of the PT’s at Xtreme Fitness Gym so I thought I would see if he could sort out my persistent shoulder injury. I am a powerlifter and previously trained in bodybuilding. I also recently injured myself heavy lifting during day to day activities.
I always felt pain in my shoulder in pressing movements and in the lower phase of a press .Ive had on and off shoulder and delt pain for some time.
I went to see Tom and he established the following:
The problem lay with the two key rotator cuff muscles which play a role in that they are infraspinatus on the superior surface of your scapula and subscapularis on the inside of your scapula. When these muscles are over worked or tight they can irritate the shoulder in certain exercises if they haven’t been stretched or warmed up properly. Improper warm ups to rotator cuff muscles can lead to injury. Which is what had happened in my case.
Tom simply targeted these muscles and released them off along with the bigger muscle groups to allow more free movement in the shoulder. I have also had adjustments on numerous occasions and acupuncture too. My stretching regime has become a big part of my training now and my flexibility has improved so much.
I recommend Tom not only for injuries but as an athlete of any kind it’s essential that you look after your body with regular MOT’s. I always look forward to mine.Tom is very knowledgeable and highly skilled and as a PT with many years of training in the fitness industry has a deep insight into what gym related injuries can occur and how to treat them. These sessions have no doubt improved my performance.
